We change our Collective Worship theme every half term.

Half Term 3b (June/July 2017) the value is:

 

TRUTHFULNESS

The challenge for this half term is called 'Truth be Told'.

 

If you could ask a famous person (from history or alive today)

to answer a question about themselves what would it be?

 

For example:

 

David Beckham - How old were you when you knew for sure that  you wanted to be a footballer?

 

Aung San Suu Kyi - Was there ever a time when you felt like giving up your campaign in Burma?

 

Make a large colourful question mark and write your question on it to take to school by Friday 14th July. There is a prize for the best one.

Half Term 3a (April/May 2017) the value was:

 

SERVICE

The challenge for this half term is to complete a 'service snail'

Living a life of service is about keeping your eyes open and

looking out for ways to make others smile!

 

Draw a large smiley snail. Can you fill in the spirals on the snail’s

shell with ways in which as a family you serve each other in one

week? When the snail shell is full take it to school by the end of this half term. (Friday 26th May).There is a prize for the best one!

Half Term 2b (March/April 2017) the value was:

 

JUSTICE

The challenge for this half term is to design a weighing machine. Before electronic weighing machines were invented, scales often had two pans that were balanced when each held an equal weight. Design and make a simple balance from junk materials that can weigh small objects. Bring your balance to school by the end of this half term (7th April). There is a prize for the best one!

PERSEVERANCE

The challenge for this half term is to make a mosaic picture (no bigger than A3 – 29 x 42cm) using small pieces of coloured paper. Mosaics are one of the oldest ways to make art. People have been arranging tiny coloured pieces of glass or pottery for thousands of years to create beautiful designs but the process is time consuming and needs lots of perseverance. The subject of your mosaic is up to you. It could be a pattern or a picture. Bring your mosaic picture to school by the end of this half term (17th February). There is a prize for the best one! (Prizes awarded on 27.02.17)

The challenge for this half term has a watery theme!

 

The challenge is to use scrap materials to construct a boat that floats and has a working sail. Use a hairdryer to check that the sail really does catch the wind and move the boat across the water (You must ask an adult to help you with this). Bring your boat to school by the end of this half term (16th December). There is a prize for the best one!

'Thank You Chain'.

 

Think about how an everyday item reaches you: Where does it come from? Who was involved in making it? Who should you

thank? Make a thank you chain by joining together paper circles containing pictures and/or writing and bring it to school by the end of this half term (21st October). There is a prize for the best one!

Half Term 3b (June/July 2016) the value was:

On the reverse give 5 reasons why this person is worthy of special respect. The picture can then be hung in the school Challenge Gallery.
