Today Robins Class visited Arley Arboretum to have a look for signs of Spring, such as Spring flowers and plants. We also had a look for minibeasts and had a little play on the park! It was lovely weather to visit such a beautiful place and we all had lots of fun. We even enjoyed walking there and back!
This afternoon the whole school was treated to a visit from Radish the Shetland pony! Radish is 5 years old and he belongs to one of the children in Robins Class. All of the children got a chance to brush Radish and to look at his teeth and feet while learning about how to care for a pony. We all really enjoyed it and hope to see Radish again soon!
As our new topic is 'Toys', today we decided to have a Teddy Bear's Picnic. The children all brought their favourite teddy or soft toy into school to share their picnic with as we sat on blankets under a tree on the field! It was lovely weather and the children enjoyed singing songs and sharing stories as they ate their picnic. We all had lots of fun!
At the end of Spring Term A, Robins Class did their very first class assembly, performing in front of a large audience including the rest of the school, all of the staff, and lots of parents, grandparents and siblings! They did amazingly well and everyone was so proud of them! All the the children learnt their lines, spoke loudly and clearly, remembered what to do next, and performed their song and dance beautifully. The children loved performing and can't wait to do their next class assembly in the summer term.
During the first half of the Spring Term, our topic in Robins Class has been 'Growth and Change'. The children have explored and learnt about how plants, animals and humans grow and change. They have read stories about growing and changing such as 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and 'Tadpole's Promise', they have engaged with first hand experiences of growth such as growing cress, and we even had a visit from a 1 week old lamb! Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.
Robins and Owls Christmas Production - 'The Landlord's Cat'
This year's Christmas Production was a huge success!! Despite having less rehearsals than planned due to the snow, the children performed absolutely brilliantly. They were confident on the stage, remembered their lines and the words to the songs, acted out their parts fantastically and sang beautifully. All of the children looked great in their costumes and they thoroughly enjoyed performing for their families. We can't wait for next year's performance!
The children really enjoyed making mince pies to sell at our Christmas Fayre. They followed instructions brilliantly and the mince piece were delicious!
Today the children from Robins and Swallows Classes visited Arley Arboretum to look for signs of Autumn and Winter. It was a lovely frosty, sunny morning and the children had lots of fun collecting autumn leaves, exploring the arboretum and playing on the park and in the maze. Here are a selection of photographs from our visit.
We have had a lovely first half term at school exploring our topic of 'All About Me' and also sub-topics on 'Harvest' and 'Autumn'. The children have settled in brilliantly and have been really enthusiastic to learn. We are now really excited to begin the new half term and to take part in lots of exciting activities surrounding our new topic - 'Transport and Journeys'. We will also explore a few sub-topics including, 'Bonfire Night', 'Autumn and Winter', and 'Advent and Christmas'.

Robins Class have had a fabulous first few weeks at school. They have enjoyed exploring our Early Years Area, including the classroom, outdoor area and our 'Creation Station'. The children have listened to stories, joined in with counting and number work activities, learnt about rhyme and alliteration, and they have begun to learn their letters and sounds. They are thoroughly enjoying our topic 'All About Me', especially creating self-portraits and looking at photographs of themselves when they were babies! The children have also had lots of fun in our PE lessons, including a lesson taught by a coach from Kidderminster Harriers. Here are some photographs of the children during their first few weeks at school.
