Swifts 2020 - 2021

This half term, our topic is called:

Changing Times

In Lower Key Stage 2, we are using this half term to learn about changes. We will be covering a range of different skills in all subject areas.

Important information:

Our forest school sessions will now be every Tuesday afternoon, so come to school in your school uniform then you will have time to change into your forest school clothes after lunch. Remember we go out to forest school whatever the weather so please do come prepared.

We also have PE every Wednesday afternoon, so make sure you have the appropriate kit in school with you each week as we try to keep our PE sessions outdoors as much as possible.

Welcome back to school for the Summer term!

At Upper Arley, we are all excited to have you back in school, after what was a very strange year last year.

Some things are having to run a little differently this year, but we are keeping things as safe as possible so all our children enjoy their school life!

Some of the changes we have made include;

  • Using our own equipment (all labelled and in individual pouches just for you!)
  • Your own space to work each day
  • Regular hand-washing trips to make sure our hands are clean!
  • Separate play areas... and more.

Miss Bowen

Welcome to Swifts

We are the beginning of key stage 2 as a class of mixed year 3 and 4 children. We enjoy a brilliantly rich and broad curriculum offering a formal learning environment, supporting out key competencies and values and driving forward independence and co-operation. Our curriculum supports both the application of skills learned in KS1 and also new skills essential for our development throughout KS2. Through a varied subject led topic approach, we focus on the arts, humanities, technology and the development of our personal and social skills. As the children at the start of KS2 we take pride in leading by example to our peers in KS1, showing resilience in everything we do and compassion towards all of our peers. We are a fantastic team!

P4C

Philosophy for Children is a wonderful way to bring adults and children together to discuss things that matter.  It enhances the children's thinking and communication skills, and boosts their self esteem, this has been proven to improve their academic achievement.

PSCO Visit - Our ASPIRATIONS for the future

Many of us know what we would like to aspire to in the future.

Firefighter, doctor, nurse, vet, police officer, engineer, mechanic and even a fisherman!
